Dance-Themed Halloween Costumes
You may have plenty of opportunities to wear costumes at dance performances throughout the year, but most dancers still wouldn’t pass up the chance to steal the spotlight on Halloween! If you’re looking for a costume that showcases your passion, consider these dance-themed ideas.
Maddie Ziegler from Sia’s “Chandelier” music video: You probably already have a nude leotard, and if you also happen to own a platinum blond wig, you have everything you need to portray the young dancer from the acclaimed music video “Chandelier.”
Baby from Dirty Dancing: First, curl your hair. Then, find a light pink dress and high heels. That’s it! If people don’t get it, tell them you’re “having the time of your life.”
Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing: Men, you can get in on the action, too! Don a shaggy 80s wig, a leather jacket, and jazz shoes to transform into Johnny, Patrick Swayze’s character from Dirty Dancing. To complete the look, consider carrying around a baby doll. If anyone asks, insist that “nobody puts Baby in a corner!”
A character from Newsies: Have you always wanted to dance through the streets like a Newsie? To put this costume together, you’ll need knickers, suspenders or a vest, a cabby hat, and jazz shoes. Make the look more recognizable by carrying a newspaper or delivery bag.
Alex from Flashdance: To pull off this 80s classic, you need a grey sweatshirt dress with the neck cut out, leg warmers, and high heels. A curly brown wig and headband are optional, but they help make the costume more recognizable. “What a feeling!”
